Project Name The Project for Improving Secondary School Environment in the Central and Southern Provinces

Project Narrative

The national average of the gross enrollment rate for secondary education in Lao PDR remained 78.1%. The gross enrollment rate was particularly low in Khammouane, Savannakhet, Saravan, and Champasak provinces compared to the national average. In addition, some secondary schools were unable to maintain an appropriate learning environment due to aging facilities.

Project Objective
To improve access to secondary education and the learning environment by upgrading secondary school facilities and equipment in four central and southern provinces in Laos, thereby contributing to improving the quality of secondary education.

The main objectives of JICA’s ex-post evaluation are.
(1) To improve projects further through the learning loop in the project cycle (learning lessons drawn from ex-post evaluation
(2) To disclose information extensively for the sake of improving transparency and accountability of JICA’s cooperation projects.

What Mekong consultant Co., Ltd contributes

– Collect information and data related to the results of the captioned project, mainly from Ministry of Education and Sports (MOES), Provincial Education and Sports Service (PESS) in Champasak, Khammouane, Salavan and Savannakhet, District Education and Sports Bureau (DESB) in related districts, Village Education Development Committee (VEDC) in related villages, and target schools, etc.
– Arrange meetings (including face to face meetings and virtual meetings) and project site visits, and attend those meetings/project site visits,
– Interpret conversations in interviews/meetings/project site visits between English-Lao,
– Translate short documents between English-Lao,
– Make the list of participants and interview record and site observation record,
– Arrange logistics for the project site visits
– Other tasks specifically assigned by FASID.
