Sep / 2021

Project Name:  The Project for Capacity Enhancement for Sustainable World Heritage Management Preservation Luang Praban

Project Narrative

Lao People’s Democratic Republic(Hereinafter referred to as “Laos”)The World Heritage Area in Luang Prabang City, a major city in the north of the cities, was registered as a UNESCO World Heritage Area (cultural heritage) in 1995 as a beautiful town that combines traditional and European colonial architecture.

In recent years, in World Heritage areas, the environment has deteriorated due to the rapid increase in tourists, and the number of local residents has decreased due to changes in the use of buildings. Furthermore, if the planned high-speed railway connecting China and Laos opens in the future, development pressure is expected to increase further. However, the maintenance system of the World Heritage Area is fragile, including securing funds.

The upper goal of this project is “the maintenance of the World Heritage area and the implementation of regional promotion for the entire prefecture are being carried out continuously”, and the project goal is “the maintenance of the World Heritage area and the entire prefecture”. Contribute to regional development by targeting tourism development and promotion. ”
