Project Name: Lao Road Maintenance Project (ADB – PPTA-8492) 

Project Description
   The Government of Lao PDR has requested the Asian Development Bank (ADB) for a project preparatory technical assistance (TA) to prepare the Road Maintenance Project. This project supports the government’s transport sector priorities of increasing the capability of local Departments of Public Works and Transport to manage road assets that have been transferred to provincial control.

Project Phase II

Project Name: Road Sector Governance and Maintenance Project (ADB Loan No.3368 – Lao)

Project Description
    The Government of Lao PDR has applied for a loan from the Asian Development Bank (ADB) toward Road Sector Governance and Maintenance Project, which will implement for:
     (i) 222 kilometer (km) of national road (NR-20, NR-16 and NR-18B) in Salavan, Xekong and Attapu provinces and
     (ii) 104.2 km of Local Roads (LR-6901, LR-7615 and LR-9001) in Salavan, Xekong and Attapu provinces.
   Part of the loan proceeds will be applied for eligible payments under the civil works and consulting services contracts under the Project.

Geo-technical Works
     (i) Test pits, Dynamic Cone Penetration(DCP) Test and CBR test along the road
alignment mentioned above.
     (ii) Machine borings at the proposed bridge site on NR-20 or as directed.
     (iii) Standard Penetration Test (SPT) and Sampling;
     (iv) Laboratory testing of soil samples;

Topographical Works
     (i) Mobilization and Demobilization,
     (ii) Bench mark installation at all local roads and at structural improvement locations along NR-20 & 18B,
     (iii) plane survey by total station for all local roads,
     (iv) plane survey by total station for structural improvement locations along NR-20,NR18B,LR7615 & LR9001,
     (v) Measurement of existing bridge (Nam Luk Bridge) at NR-20.
