Project Name: The Project to Enhance the Capacity of Vientiane Capital State Bus Enterprise (Phase II)

Project Narrative

   Vientiane Capital State Bus Enterprise (VCSBE) is a state-owned enterprise whose main role is to provide public bus transit services within Vientiane Capital as well as to other cities in Vientiane Prefecture, other provinces in Laos, and other countries. It is operating under the guidance of Ministry of Public Works and Transport of the Government of Laos.

   Japan International Cooperation Agency (JICA) and the government of Lao People’s Democratic Republic agreed to conduct the “Project to Enhance the Capacity of Vientiane Capital State Bus Enterprise (VCSBE) Phase II from August 2016 to August 2019. To execute the Project, JICA selected a consortium of consultants headed by Katahira & Engineers International.

   The Output will be an environmentally sustainable and pedestrian-friendly transport system developed in Vientiane. The outcome will be improved urban transport operations and capacity in Vientiane.
